Tom Skjønnhaug
For over 40 years, Tom`s philosophy has been to see the human body as a whole, as an interconnected system. Pain in one part of the body is often caused by pain elsewhere in the body. Therefore seeing the body as a interconnected system is conclusive for optimal treatment
Unattended injuries or pain in your body leads to malfunction and strain. Untreated over time unattended pain leads to tensions and drains your energy. Untreated injuries allows other muscles than the affected to compensate. Pain today may be caused by injuries from years ago
Finding the initial damage is conclusive in order to find the best possible treatment. A treatment who facilitates improvement and a fully restored body.
Muscles communicate through the nervous system
A study conducted at the University of Aalborg in Denmark, reveales a new way of thinking on muscles.
The study confirmes muscles communicating via the nervoussystem. It also confirmes healthy muscles being able to take over for weak or injured muscles. The findings is the basis of a new way of understanding muscles. The focus has shifted from looking at muscles or joints separately into looking at the body as interconnected and the bodily movement as one.
The studies supports the philosophy Tom has had for over 40 years.

Tom’s methods
Tom is a chiropractor and physiotherapist with over 40 years experience treating muscle and joint issues. Early in his career he started developing his own treatment and diagnostic methods.
He is the only one performing several of these techniques, and a bacis element is to break the patients negative movement patterns. Experience proves that this provides good results short- and long term.
Breathe / let loose your stomach and breathe
In 1993 Tom developed a new treatment technique combining muscle and joint treatment with breathing techniques.
Inadequate breathing is a common problem in our stressful everyday life. Being unaware of your breathing can lead to being burnt out. Inadequate breathing may in worst cases lead to depression, neglect, isolation and sleep-issues or insomnia.
Tom`s «New Energy» technique was developed when discovering shoulder and neck issues being related to poor breathing techniques. A couple of sessions and the problem is gone.
The front of the human body and elongation of muscle fibres
Tom developed his own treatment-technique for abdomen, chest and neckmuscles. The muscles in need of treatment are lightly stretched in addition to being rotated in order to elongate them. The treatment has huge effect on muscles around the joints.
Treating carpal tunnel syndrome
Tom has long experience with workrelated injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Early treatment focusing on breaking bad movement patterns allows Toms treatment the foundation in lasting and successful results.

New science supports Tom’s unigue and effective methods in muscle- and nerve treatment
Pain is contagious
Research has proved pain moving from muscle to muscle. It is suggested that the cause lays in the plasticity of the nervous system.
The importance of being treated when injuries occur is supported by science. Leaving the injury untreated leads to secundary pain and problems. Science explains why finding the initiate injury is crucial to healing, due to the initial pain being the trigger.
Finding the original injury and seeing the body as a whole has always been the base of Tom`s treatment.

Pain weakens muscles
Science proves that muscles in pain leads to poorer effort and risks severe injuries.
The sentralnervous-system sends signals in order to muscles moving. An injured muscle sends less signals to the centralnervous system affecting the muscle-control. The muscle is unable to perform optimal and wears down in a shorter period of time. Continuous use of an injured muscle increases the risk of injury.
